I recently finished reading the second book in K.M. Shea's newest trilogy in the Magiford universe, The King's Shadow . The King's Shadow picks up right where the the previous book, The King's Captive , left off.  Chole is a human that can shift into the form of a cat. She's a bit of an anomaly in the supernatural world due to her ability to transform quickly and from her natural magic resistance. Chole has been spending that last few weeks pretending to be a normal house cat after the hidden king of the elves, a species long believed to be extinct, rescues her from a group of local fae. She while remaining in cat form she tried several attempts at escaping from elf king, Noctus, but due to a mysterious collar he placed upon her neck, he always knows her location. ...

Court of Midnight and Deception: The Complete Trilogy (Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. Shea . It is an urban fantasy, romance trilogy that takes place in Shea's larger universe centered around Magiford, a supernatural city.  The story focuses on Leila, a half-human half-fae girl living on a farm with her mom and step-dad, ready to embark on the next phase of her life: being a responsible adult. The first one coming from Riegel, an attractive fae male lord that has built up an infamous reputation as the assassin kno...

The first book of the new year that I selected for myself is titled, The King's Captive: Magiford Supernatural City .  This is book 1 of a trilogy by the author K. M. Shea .   I've read a previous series from the same author titled, The Fairy Tale Enchantress so Amazon has been recommending many of her other books and that's how I stumbled upon The King's Captive.  The King's Captive follows the story of Chloe, a supernatural with the ability to shift into the form a house cat and Noctus, king of the elves, a species long assumed to be extinct.  While in her cat form, Chloe is captured by a group of fae. Chloe finds herself rescued and now held captive by Noctus as his newly adopted house pet.  Most of the book follows Chloe trying to find ways to escape from Noctus, but un...

A brief welcome

New year, new blog? I love books! I have a huge collection of physical books, plus a subscription to Kindle Unlimited so I read a ton of books there.  For the year of 2023 I wanted to challenge myself to write reviews upon completing books. I also wanted to keep a record of what books I've read to my children.  I've always been curious want our book count would be at the end of a year.  Let's see if this new habit will stick.
